In answering them, we will work closely with your search committee and other decision-makers to define what is required from the ideal candidate. Collectively, we will create a standard by which candidates will be evaluated. We have found that creating this standard and defining criteria also helps shape thinking about what needs to be learned from final candidates during later interviews. We know that the end of the process, and a long-term solution, is found in the beginning of the process.
